We’ve had a busy start to 2024, moving key projects forward and releasing our Second Annual Toward Zero Exposure Report.

Our members and stakeholders have been busy as well, publishing essential work exploring chemical exposure, launching a groundbreaking new fund to support efforts to eliminate hazardous chemicals, and developing resources to better support companies in streamlining their supply chain operations.

CEPN is excited to announce we have received a grant from the Initiative for Global Solidarity, a program of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. This grant will finance a 6-month project to create chemical management and safety trainings aligned with the Toward Zero Exposure program, ready to deploy to supplier facilities deeper into the supply chain.

The Toward Zero Exposure program has just completed a major revision process to strengthen the program and increase its value to participants, resulting in Toward Zero Exposure Program Requirements and Verification, Version 2.0 (November 2023). Input from key stakeholders, including TZE Signatories, CEPN members, and CEPN's NGO Advisors, proved critical in shaping the TZE V2.0 updates.

CEPN has officially identified our 2nd Round of Priority Chemicals. This round includes an additional 16 chemicals, joining our initial list of 9 process chemicals to be prioritized for elimination or substitution in electronics manufacturing.

As we enter the summer, CEPN has been busy finalizing the 2nd Round of Priority Chemicals, and moving the Towards Zero Exposure program into its next phase.

Clean Electronics Production Network (CEPN) is excited to present our first annual report of the Toward Zero Exposure program, showcasing the impact the program has already had, as well as our plans for more progress protecting workers from exposure to hazardous process chemicals in the electronics supply chain.

As the year quickly comes to a close, we are thankful for the chance to reflect on the work that has been done up and down the supply chain to protect electronic workers from harmful chemical exposures. There have been some exciting new developments and updates both from CEPN members and from the electronics industry as a whole that we wanted to share.

As fall approaches, CEPN is getting ready for an exciting calendar of events and projects to wrap up 2022. In this newsletter we will share some notable updates, milestones, and events that are on the horizon. We are looking forward to continuing to collaborate with our members, partners, and stakeholders in the last quarter of the year.

We have had a busy first quarter at CEPN, welcoming new partners and engaging with potential Toward Zero Exposure Signatories. CEPN’s staff has an active calendar of events to spread the word about the importance of reducing exposure to harmful chemicals and also the growing collection of tools to make this work easier and more efficient with better outcomes.
