CEPN Quarterly Update
The year may be coming to a close, but CEPN hasn’t slowed down. Read on for the latest network and member news, including a recap of CEPN’s workshop at the RBA Annual Conference, CEPN’s new MRSL resource hub, and more.
We encourage you to send us an email with any questions or feedback on the updates below and remember to follow us on LinkedIn to stay up to date on the latest Network news.

CEPN's New MRSL Resource Hub has been Launched
Many leading electronics companies have developed Manufacturing Restricted Substances Lists (MRSLs) to communicate restrictions of manufacturing process chemicals for their supply chains. CEPN has compiled publicly available MRSLs from electronics companies on our website to facilitate access to these important resources.
If you would like your company’s MRSL included on the CEPN website, please reach out to us at info@cleanelectronicsproduction.org.
CEPN is Pleased to Announce Additional Availability to Beta Test New Digital Chemical Safety Training
We are excited to share that we have additional availability in our digital Chemical Safety Training.

Designed to support supplier facilities in the electronics supply chain, the digital Chemical Safety Worker and Manager Training disseminates best practices in process chemical management, as well as ways to reduce worker exposures to hazardous chemicals and strengthen worker safety and engagement. Modules for both workers and managers are included in the training.
Modules are available in Vietnamese, Malay, and English. There is no cost to participate, and the training will remain open until January 31, 2025.
If you have any supplier facilities with an interest in participating in the interactive digital training, please email Michelle Turner.
CEPN Connected with Industry Stakeholders at RBA’s Annual Conference
CEPN was pleased to participate in Responsible Business Alliance’s 2024 Annual Conference last month. Senior Director Pamela Brody-Heine participated in the panel discussion entitled Enabling Collective Action on Chemical Management Risks and Restricted Materials. The session provided insight on ways to engage with collaborative efforts to address chemical management risks to workers, communities, and the environment.

Following the conference, CEPN hosted a workshop on advancing chemical safety in electronics as part of RBA’s Training and Partner Sessions. CEPN members in attendance shared their experiences working within the Network to collaborate towards efforts to protect workers from chemical hazards in the electronics supply chain.
CEPN staff provided an overview of the Network’s resources, programs such as the Toward Zero Exposure program, and upcoming initiatives, including CEPN’s Chemical Safety Training Project.

Clean Production Action’s 7th Chemical Footprint Project Report Released
Congratulations to CEPN member Clean Production Action on the release of their 7th Chemical Footprint Project Report.
The new report combines emerging trends in the chemical footprint approach with data evaluation of business responses to the 2023 CFP Survey in order to provide a framework for benchmarking companies on their journey away from chemicals of high concern to safer solutions. It provides a measurable target for transitioning to safer solutions, encourages companies to incorporate hazard assessment methodologies, and highlights companies that have made progress in developing a chemicals management system that goes beyond regulatory compliance.
We congratulate CEPN member HP for participating in the report and being named a Frontrunner, demonstrating leadership across all aspects of the chemical footprint approach for multiple years running.
New Paper on Informatics and Safer-Sustainable Chemistry Available for Download

Several CEPN members have authored a recently published paper on designing safer chemistries that ensure technical functionality and provide a holistic approach to sustainability through the use of a data-driven framework. This work is an ongoing collaboration among nonprofit, academic, and industry peers.
The open-access paper is titled Building a roadmap for safer and sustainable material chemistries: Addressing the PFAS problem through informatics and data-driven chemistry.
New Circular Electronics Design Guide Created to Support Electronics Sector Practitioners

The Circular Electronics Design Guide serves as a comprehensive resource guiding practitioners in the electronics sector through the complexities of embedding circularity into their design.
Over 60 experts from 25 organizations were involved in the creation of this free resource, including several CEPN members. The Circular Electronics Design Guide is a project of the Circular Electronics Partnership.

We are always looking to grow CEPN by welcoming individuals and organizations across the supply chain who are committed to supporting worker safety. If you are interested in learning more about joining us, we encourage you to reach out!
