Join CEPN at Responsible Business’ 2024 Annual Conference

CEPN will be part of the Responsible Business Alliance’s Training and Partner Sessions following their 2024 Annual Conference! Join us in San Jose on November 21 for a 1-hour workshop on Advancing Chemical Safety in Electronics.

This workshop will focus on CEPN's collaborative approach, innovative programs and supportive resources, such as the Toward Zero Exposure (TZE) program, the Priority Chemicals List, and the new Chemical Safety Training Program. We invite stakeholders across the electronics industry interested in tools and resources to advance chemical safety through collaborative action.

Thanks to Our CEPN Members and Guests for a Productive Meeting #17!

CEPN members gathered virtually on October 2-3 for Network Meeting #17.

Members had a packed agenda and delved into a demo of the CEPN’s recently developed Chemical Safety Training Program, celebrated 3 years of the TZE program, and reviewed the Network’s process for selecting priority chemicals. Members also heard an update on the work of the MRSL Task Force, including a review of a compilation of electronics companies’ MRSLs.

CEPN and GIZ Host Train the Trainer Event in Vietnam Featuring New Chemical Safety Training Modules

On October 10 and 11, CEPN staff Pamela Brody-Heine and Michelle Turner traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam to host a “Train the Trainer” event on the Network’s new Chemical Safety Training module at the GIZ office in Hanoi. The training marks the latest development in the Chemical Safety Training Program funded through a grant from the Initiative for Global Solidarity, a program of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

The two-day long event sets up local trainers to deliver the beta test training taking place at electronics supplier facilities across Vietnam. Fifteen attendees, including local trainers and representatives from a labor rights organization, a brand, and multiple suppliers, participated. Following the conclusion of this beta testing phase, the training will become available for use by CEPN members as well as the entire electronics industry.

CEPN Senior Director Pamela Brody-Heine recently had the opportunity to participate in the opening panel of the CHIPS for America Workshop on Accelerating R&D for Sustainable Semiconductor Materials. The event featured government leaders as well as industry and research experts. View a recording of the panel here.

Earlier this month, CEPN also presented at a multi-stakeholder roundtable on the Indian electronics manufacturing industry alongside other leaders in business, advocacy and research. The event, hosted by GIZ and labor rights

organization Cividep India, brought together diverse stakeholders to discuss and tackle the human rights risks and challenges faced by workers in the Indian electronics industry.

CEPN is honored to have had these opportunities to continue spreading awareness about the Network and participate in vital conversations to advance worker safety in electronics manufacturing.
